How does day training work?

Start with an initial consult

We discuss your training goals and a timeframe to achieve these goals.

There is an initial two week minimum to ensure you see results. How many (if any) subsequent weeks are needed depends on the training required.

01

I train your dog while you work or play

3 days during the work week I come to your house for an hour while you are at work or around town.

On a 4th day (e.g., Friday night or Saturday morning) I show you what your dog has learned, and how you can get the dog to do it.

02

Enjoy life with your well-trained dog!

Simple as that!

Day training has all the benefits of board-and-train, but you get to keep your dog at home!

03

Ready to impress your friends with how good your dog is?

Alleviate your guilt about not having time for your dog!

Step 1. Initial Consult

$150

This includes:

  • 45-60 minute consultation in your home to understand your goals and challenges.

  • I let you know the timeframe in which I can train your desired outcome and then develop a training plan specific for your dog.

  • I’ll leave you with some tips for easy and impactful changes.

Step 2. Schedule home visits

Each week you get:

  • Three sessions where your dog is trained by a professional for an hour while you get on with your day. I will train key behaviors to meet your training goals, provide a potty break or short walk as necessary, and you get a personalized report on each visit.

  • One 60 minute coaching session with you and your dog to transfer results (on a Friday evening or Saturday).

  • One FREE follow up visit with a 2 week package within a month after your sessions for extra coaching, and to check that everything is going smoothly.

After the initial consult I will send a link for you to book your Day Training package:

  • $1,150 for a 2 week minimum so that you will see results

  • Additional weeks are $550

“ I was amazed at the progress she made in such a short amount of time”

"Sarah worked with my high energy adolescent lab for 2 weeks and I was amazed at the progress she made in such a short amount of time. We had worked on leash walking for months beforehand but were still struggling with pulling - within 1 or 2 visits Sarah had my dog politely sitting at the door before going out and eagerly staying by my side while walking. Sarah clearly enjoys what she does and uses fun, engaging games with the dogs, which seem much more effective than some of the strategies I had learned from previous trainers. I highly recommend her!"

Day training is perfect for you if:

  • You want a well-trained dog but don’t have the time for daily practice.

  • You keep meaning to sign up for group classes or private lessons but never find the time.

  • You understand that you need to hire a professional to do professional work. Just as a veterinarian understands how to treat your dog’s body, a professional trainer knows how to get the best from your dog!

  • You live in Fort Collins.

Do you need this for your puppy?

 FAQs

  • No, (except for once a week). I do the work while you do anything else!

Once a week we will get together and I will show you what your dog has learned, and how you can keep the training going.

  • I will provide a secure lock box for your door key that will be left at your property. This gives you complete control over the key and access to your house.

  • I use positive reinforcement-based methods and games-based concept training. These methods are force-free and focus on creating wins for both you and your dog. Concept training focuses on building your dog’s skills in aspects of their personality, such as increasing confidence or helping them turn their attention away from distractions and back to you.

  • I can normally judge pretty well how long it will take to achieve your training goals, but would rather allow too much time than not have enough to produce the results you expect. If your dog is a rock star then I am happy to offer a refund for unused weeks, or train something else you need.
